According to a report by CoinDesk, the Ethereum Foundation security team used AI agents to discover a vulnerability in the gossipsub protocol that could cause validator nodes to go offline. This vulnerability has been fixed and registered as CVE-2026-34219. Nikos Baxevanis stated that the team spent a significant amount of time distinguishing between real vulnerabilities and false positives in AI reports, and manual review remains a crucial step.
