Glonghui July 14|Sunrun, the largest residential solar photovoltaic and energy storage equipment supplier in the United States, is advancing a so-called "distributed AI data center" pilot program. The company’s CEO, Mary Powell, stated on Monday that users participating in the program could earn several hundred dollars per month by selling computing power. Reportedly, Sunrun has over 1 million users in the US who have already deployed rooftop photovoltaic systems. In the face of the AI industry frantically seeking computing power, solar companies have spotted a "pickaxe-selling" opportunity. Mary told the media that, given the continuously rising energy demand in the US, it is expected to grow another 40% in the next decade. The company has found that its business truly has the potential to become an important part of solving this problem: by collaborating with customers to deploy nodes in their homes, these households can effectively function as "micro data centers" and receive corresponding compensation.
