Glonghui, July 16|Korea's Maeil Business Newspaper, citing an interview with Kwak Dong Shin, Chairman of HanMi Semiconductor, reported that, given the expected supply shortage of AI semiconductor equipment starting next year, HanMi Semiconductor is considering building its eighth production plant, which, upon completion, will become the company's largest facility. Kwak Dong Shin expects demand for semiconductor equipment to exceed supply starting next year. The planned eighth plant will be located adjacent to the seventh plant currently under construction in Incheon. HanMi Semiconductor stated that as global chip manufacturers increase their investments, market demand for its hot press bonders and hybrid bonders will grow rapidly. The company plans to establish a HanMi U.S. subsidiary in San Jose, California by the end of 2026 to strengthen its technical support services.
