On July 16, in response to a question about whether single-stock leveraged products have affected recent market fluctuations, Lee said, "The key lies in the extent of their impact," and added, "Supplementary measures will be formulated and announced as soon as possible." When asked if the FSC is considering implementing a temporary trading halt system in the event of a sharp market downturn, he responded, "The market has its own operating mechanisms, and such measures could bring even greater side effects, so we are conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the related situation." Lee pointed out that the high volatility of the global semiconductor industry is an important backdrop to recent market volatility. Driven by the "super cycle," the semiconductor industry is developing rapidly, with share prices rising sharply in the short term—expectations and concerns in the market alternate repeatedly, leading to increased volatility in semiconductor stocks both in Korea and worldwide. He emphasized that as the combined market capitalization of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix grows substantially, the weight of the two companies in the KOSPI continues to increase, further amplifying the impact of semiconductor stock price volatility on the overall market.
