Iraq and Syria to jointly build a transnational oil pipeline

U.S. officials revealed on the 14th that Iraq and Syria will renovate an oil pipeline that has been abandoned for many years, allowing oil produced from Iraq's northern oil fields to be transported to Syria's Mediterranean port, thereby bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. This pipeline was originally built in 1952, starting from Kirkuk in Iraq in the east and ending in Baniyas, Syria in the west, with a total length of about 800 kilometers and a daily oil transport capacity of 300,000 barrels.
