Glonghui July 16|An internal memo shows that UBS (UBS.US) has hired former exchange Managing Director Takehiro Sakuramoto, seeking to rebuild its business presence in the Japanese corporate bond market. Takehiro Sakuramoto joined UBS’s Japanese local investment banking division on Thursday as Head of Japan Debt Capital Markets. A spokesperson stated that UBS will seek mandates for underwriting bonds issued by Japanese companies, with an initial focus on foreign currency-denominated bonds. This is the latest move in a series of recent senior management hires by UBS in Japan. Takehiro Sakuramoto is at least the fourth senior figure to join UBS Securities Japan from an exchange in the past 10 months. He previously led the exchange’s Tokyo debt capital markets business. This is also his second time joining UBS, having worked in UBS’s capital markets team earlier in his career, and also previously served at the exchange.
