US Stocks Movement: Another Case Where "Good News Is All Priced In"! TSMC's Q2 Net Profit Surges to Record High, but US Stock Futures Reverse and Drop 0.6%

Gelonghui July 16th|Following Samsung Electronics, the market once again witnessed a "sell the news" event. After announcing better-than-expected Q2 results, TSMC (TSM.US) saw its U.S. after-hours trading dive, with the stock price turning from over 1% up to a 0.6% decline. TSMC's just-released results show Q2 2026 revenue reached 1.27 trillion New Taiwan dollars, a year-on-year increase of 36% and up 12% quarter-on-quarter; net profit was 706.6 billion New Taiwan dollars, a year-on-year surge of 77.4% and up 23.4% quarter-on-quarter, hitting a record high and significantly above market expectations of 623.73 billion New Taiwan dollars; gross margin was 67.7%, an increase of 9.1 percentage points year-on-year and above the expected 67.1%.
