According to Cointelegraph, on-chain gacha spending reached a record high of $324 million in June 2026. During the same period, Bitcoin fell by more than 20% to hit a 21-month low. Users purchased tokenized Pokémon cards, driving counter-trend growth in the RWA (Real World Assets) sector amid a sluggish crypto market. Projects such as Collector Crypt and Courtyard are tokenizing physical cards, allowing users to trade NFTs or redeem for physical cards. In 2025, Pokémon’s sales in the United States reached $2.5 billion, an 87% year-on-year increase; surging demand led PSA to suspend some grading services to handle a backlog of nearly 10 million cards. Platforms provide an instant buyback mechanism to create a gacha loop, and project teams say around 30% of users ultimately choose to redeem for physical cards.
