According to a report released on Thursday by the UK investment firm Seraphim Space, buoyed by SpaceX's milestone fundraising of nearly $86 billion from its IPO, global space startup financing in the second quarter of 2026 is approaching historic highs.

According to English financial media outlet Zhitong Finance APP, a report released Thursday by British investment firm Seraphim Space shows that propelled by SpaceX’s milestone IPO raising nearly $86 billion, global space startup financing reached near-record highs in Q2 2026.

This landmark public offering not only attracted a broader range of investors beyond traditional aerospace-focused funds, but also further solidified the space industry’s status as a mainstream asset class. At the same time, the IPO has spurred large funding rounds for companies in sectors such as launch systems, satellite networks, defense technology, and other on-orbit infrastructure.

“Over the past year, we have clearly felt an uptick in investor interest. While SpaceX’s IPO is a strong catalyst, the deeper reason is that investors are increasingly recognizing the commercial maturity of the sector,” said Lucas Bishop, investment analyst at Seraphim Space. “We are seeing more and more institutions, previously lacking experience or with no exposure in the space sector, proactively contacting us in hopes of gaining a foothold in this track.”

Bishop pointed out that although the first half of 2026 was an unusually active period for fundraising and quarterly totals may fluctuate, overall investment drivers for the industry remain robust.

Investors also said that the market’s focus is increasingly shifting to companies serving defense and national security clients, as well as companies dedicated to developing space computing capabilities, reflecting investor expectations that both government and commercial clients will increase investment in these fields.

Data shows that in Q2, space companies raised a total of about $7.5 billion across 141 venture investment deals, representing a slight drop from the record 159 deals totaling $8 billion in the previous quarter.

“Now, we are seeing investors more inclined to concentrate capital in large funding rounds for mature space companies. This means companies that have completed technical verification, have clear market demand, and are at critical stages of scaling up will receive more substantial capital support,” said Felix von Schubert, Managing Partner at NewSpace Capital.

Next, the market will closely monitor whether Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin can complete its reported $10 billion funding plan. If successful, it would become one of the largest private financings in the space industry’s history and sustain the unprecedented capital expansion cycle underway in the commercial space sector.

The yield rate of Samsung Electronics' foundry division's 2nm process has increased to nearly 60%, a significant improvement from around 30% in mid-2023. After stabilizing the yield, Samsung has shifted its engineering focus to power consumption and heat dissipation optimization, and is accelerating the development of the more powerful second-generation process, SF2P, aiming for mass production within the year. Strategically, Samsung plans to supply 2nm chips to Tesla next year, using this as a stepping stone to enter the large-scale tech client market.

Quantum Computing Reaches Historic Turning Point: Moving Beyond "Physical Experiments," Supply Chain and Manufacturing Become Key to Success

After attending the Quantum World Congress, Jefferies issued a major evaluation: the industry's core challenge has shifted from "creating good qubits" to "building truly usable computers." The source of competitive advantage has fully moved from physics innovation to system engineering and manufacturing barriers. The U.S. government has elevated its role from a funding provider to a rule-maker, with federal funding now linked to performance and the NQI Act about to be implemented. Whoever first achieves repeatable manufacturing and supply chain resilience will earn the ticket to compete in commercializing this technology.
