Dark Defender: The Vote to Turn XRP’s Digital-Commodity Has Until August 7

Crypto analyst Dark Defender believes XRP could be approaching an important technical breakout as attention also shifts toward a key regulatory deadline in the United States.

In a recent update, the analyst pointed to both chart signals and the progress of the CLARITY Act, suggesting that the combination could support XRP’s next move if current conditions develop.

According to Dark Defender, the Senate now has until its August 7 recess to hold a floor vote on the CLARITY Act. He stated that the legislation could make XRP’s classification as a digital commodity permanent under federal law rather than leaving it as an interpretation that could later be reversed. The analyst suggested that this legislative timeline coincides with what he sees as a favorable technical setup on XRP’s three-day chart.

Chart Points to Breakout Targets

Alongside his comments, Dark Defender shared a three-day XRP/USD chart on X, outlining what he believes is a developing bullish structure. The chart shows XRP trading near the intersection of a descending trendline and rising support, an area highlighted as a potential breakout zone.

Clock in Washington is now real, as the Senate has until the August 7 recess to give the CLARITY Act its floor vote – the vote that would turn #XRP's digital-commodity classification into permanent federal #law instead of a reversible interpretation ⏰

And while they decide, XRP…

He identified three upside targets that could be reached over a relatively short period if XRP confirms the breakout. Those price objectives are $1.22, $1.33, and $1.88.

The chart also includes Fibonacci extension levels, with the first target close to the 361.8% extension around $1.23. Additional resistance levels are marked near $1.17 and $1.11, while support remains above the recent lows around the $1.03 region.

Dark Defender also highlighted the Relative Strength Index on the three-day timeframe. His chart suggests the RSI has started to rise after remaining in lower territory, a development he views as another sign that momentum may be improving.

CLARITY Act Remains in Focus

The analyst linked his technical outlook directly to developments surrounding the CLARITY Act, arguing that both the regulatory process and XRP’s chart are progressing simultaneously.

The legislation has gained additional visibility following the release of its full text. The bill is widely regarded as the most comprehensive cryptocurrency market structure by Congress.

Under its framework, regulatory oversight would be divided between the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission based on a token’s level of decentralization.

Digital assets associated with centralized teams would continue to fall under SEC oversight as investment contract assets, while the CFTC regulates tokens operating on sufficiently decentralized networks as digital commodities.

Dark Defender suggested that a favorable outcome for the legislation, together with the growing interest surrounding XRP exchange-traded funds, could provide additional support for the asset if the technical breakout materializes.

Not everyone agreed with the optimistic outlook. Responding to the post, X user Slowdive1974 questioned the value of projecting higher prices after XRP has spent many years trading within a relatively limited range, writing, “Let’s be honest: if things haven’t moved beyond the cent range in 14 years, what’s the point of even predicting prices of a dollar or more?”

Despite that skepticism, Dark Defender maintained his outlook, noting both the chart structure and the approaching regulatory developments as reasons to remain focused on XRP’s near-term direction.
