According to Golden Ten Data, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, and Oracle collectively repurchased around $900 million in the first quarter, dropping to a nearly decade-low and down more than 80% from the peak of about $5 billion in 2021. Meta's repurchases fell to zero in the first quarter, compared to $1.275 billion in the same period last year. Bloomberg statistics show that among the four major AI spenders—Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, and Microsoft—only Microsoft continues to implement repurchases. The five companies’ annual capital expenditure forecasts have been raised from approximately $48.5 billion at the start of the year to around $73 billion.
