Sony makes an offer to acquire camera lens manufacturer Tamron

Glonghui, July 30 — Sony Group has made an offer to acquire Japanese camera lens manufacturer Tamron as part of its efforts to strengthen its camera business. Tamron stated on Thursday that it had received a non-binding proposal from Sony and has established a special committee to evaluate various options. Sony said that its approach to Tamron aims to leverage the strengths of both companies to create growth opportunities and believes the proposal will enhance the common interests of Tamron's stakeholders. Neither Sony nor Tamron disclosed details of the proposal, such as the acquisition price or the timeline for the potential deal. The Japanese entertainment and electronics company is one of Tamron's largest shareholders, holding about 15% of its shares as of the end of last year.
