On the news front, reports reveal that two sources familiar with the matter said TSMC is developing a product similar to Intel’s existing advanced chip packaging technology, indicating that the world-leading chipmaker is concerned about competition from its rivals. Chip packaging is the final stage of chip production, where different pieces of silicon are assembled into a single unit and wired together, enabling them to operate as a whole and connect to other parts of a computer. According to sources, engineers inside TSMC refer to this advanced packaging project as “class EMIB,” and have already discussed this scheme with some customers.
