XRP Secret Plan Exposed. Pundit Says You Need to Watch This

As discussions about the future of cross-border payments and digital assets continue, some members of the XRP community have revisited older theories about how the global financial system could evolve.

While the article itself does not mention XRP, the researcher presents it in the context of ongoing discussions surrounding digital assets, international payments, and the possibility of a more unified global monetary system.

The video focuses on the publication’s prediction of a single international currency and the potential role of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in overseeing such a transition.

According to Apex Crypto Insights, the 1988 article envisioned the emergence of a unified global currency called the “Phoenix” around 2018. The researcher explained that the publication envisioned that growing economic integration and technological progress would eventually make national currencies less practical for international commerce, paving the way for a single currency to replace them.

The Economist’s vision of a unified monetary system

The researcher explained that the 1988 article envisioned the Phoenix emerging as the dominant currency for consumers and businesses across major economies within about three decades of its publication.

According to the video, the publication presented a unified currency to simplify international trade and financial transactions by eliminating exchange rate volatility. It also described national currencies, including the U.S. dollar, Japanese yen, and German deutsche mark, as becoming increasingly inefficient in a more interconnected global economy.

Apex Crypto Insights further noted that the article identified technological innovation as a key factor that could support such a transition, suggesting that continued advances in financial systems would make a globally managed currency increasingly viable.

IMF presented as a possible governing authority

A significant portion of the video focuses on the role the IMF could play in the hypothetical monetary system described in the article. Apex Crypto Insights explained that The Economist proposed the IMF as a natural candidate to oversee the Phoenix, given its existing responsibilities in international monetary cooperation.

The researcher highlighted the IMF’s experience with Special Drawing Rights (SDRs), describing them as an example of an international reserve asset built from a basket of currencies. According to the video, the article suggested this experience could position the IMF to develop, manage, and maintain the credibility of a future global currency.

Apex Crypto Insights also said the publication envisioned the possibility of the IMF evolving into a new form of global central bank. Under that model, the institution would oversee the supply of the Phoenix, establish a worldwide inflation target, and coordinate monetary policy across participating economies.

Standardized monetary policy and global oversight

The video concludes by discussing the article’s broader implications for monetary governance. Apex Crypto Insights explained that the proposed system would reduce the ability of individual governments to influence their domestic economies through independent monetary policy by standardizing inflation management under a single authority.

The researcher added that the article pointed to the IMF’s existing oversight of exchange rate policies and its analysis of global economic developments as factors that could support such a transition. Apex Crypto Insights said the publication argued these capabilities would help the institution develop a regulatory structure capable of managing a technologically advanced international currency while addressing potential financial instability.

Although the video revisits ideas presented in a publication released nearly four decades ago, Apex Crypto Insights presents them within the context of ongoing discussions in the XRP community about the future of global payments and financial infrastructure.

VIPTradFi Focus: Where Does the RWA Market Stand Today?

1. Crypto outperformed traditional equity indexes following the rate hike, but elevated interest rates remain a key constraint on cross-asset allocation. From September 12 to 18, BTC, ETH, and SOL gained 4.83%, 3.84%, and 9.96%, respectively, while the S&P 500 edged down 0.08%. The U.S. Dollar Index rose 1.11%, and the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield closed at approximately 4.998%. Improving risk appetite is therefore coexisting with elevated discount rates, raising the bar for RWA allocation: investors need to compare not only returns on the underlying assets, but also on-chain liquidity and collateral efficiency. 2. Growth in tokenized equities is occurring even as the overall RWA market remains under pressure. As of September 18, Distributed Asset Value across RWAs stood at $38.503 billion, down 1.13% week over week, while tokenized equities reached $3.056 billion, up 6.03%. This week's data are better explained by capital reallocating across different RWA segments than by a broad-based expansion of the entire RWA market. 3. For exchanges, the opportunity lies in connecting spot holdings, collateral, and derivatives. Reality's distributed asset value stands at approximately $155 million, while eligible rTokens can already be used within Bitget's UTA margin framework. Across CoinGlass's verifiable sample of 177 TradFi instruments, open interest reached approximately $11.498 billion, up 2.06% week over week, even as weekly trading volume declined 7.60%. The medium-term opportunity remains intact, but deeper utilization will depend on liquidity, collateral use, and sustained trading activity. 4.Assets to watch: BTC, ETH, SOL, NEAR, ZEC, gold, tokenized U.S. equities, COST. 5.Key metrics to watch: rToken collateral utilization, the durability of TradFi open interest and trading volume, and next week's employment and consumer data.
