CME announces round-the-clock trading for silver futures, with weekend trading for gold already proving effective
智通财经2026/08/11 12:16(2) Jin Hennig, Global Head of Metals at CME, stated that silver has the dual attributes of both a precious metal and an industrial metal, making it not only a tool for diversified allocation by investors but also able to reflect both macro news and real-world demand. In response to strong retail demand for 1-ounce gold futures to be traded at all times, CME decided to extend the same round-the-clock trading permissions to silver, enabling market participants to more flexibly manage risk and seize opportunities.
(3) Since the launch of round-the-clock trading for the 1-ounce gold futures on July 24, the added weekend trading session has accumulated over 53,000 contracts in volume, with a notional value of approximately $219 million. This product has become the most liquid market for gold futures during weekend trading.
