The Most Expensive U.S. Bond in 25 Years: Is This a Warning Sign for the White House?
Although the decline in oil prices has provided support for U.S. Treasury bonds in the secondary market, Thursday's $25 billion 30-year bond auction still saw a winning yield rise to 5.216%, reaching a new high since 2001. Before this auction, the U.S. Treasury's 10-year bond auction held the previous day also recorded the highest financing cost for that term since 2007.
