mRNA cancer vaccine milestone! Moderna and Merck succeed in melanoma trial, pre-market share price soars 80%

(MRK.US) announced that their personalized cancer vaccine successfully reduced the risk of melanoma recurrence in a large-scale late-stage trial, marking a significant milestone for mRNA-based cancer therapies. The trial achieved its primary endpoint—data showed that the vaccine, when used in combination with Merck & Co.’s immunotherapy drug Keytruda, lowered the recurrence rate of melanoma compared to the use of Keytruda alone. In a statement released Wednesday, the two companies said the study also achieved a key secondary endpoint, demonstrating that the vaccine helps prevent tumors from spreading to other parts of the body.
