High temperatures and drought impact Europe's electricity supply system

Recently, scarce rainfall and ongoing drought have severely impacted Europe's power supply system, with nuclear and hydropower facilities bearing the brunt. As a result, electricity prices in Europe have risen sharply. In France, nuclear energy accounts for more than 60% of the country's total power generation. There are 57 nuclear reactors across France, all built near water sources to meet the water demand for reactor cooling. However, high temperatures have raised river water temperatures and reduced water flow, forcing French power companies to cut output at some nuclear plants and even temporarily shut down certain nuclear facilities.
