Today, the crypto market in India has seen a strong uptrend. Bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies have moved up significantly. Ripple’s XRP token is leading this rally, exhibiting a notable rebound from around ₹100 to nearly ₹165.
This surprising surge indicates that Indian investors are once again showing interest in taking risks. While Bitcoin continues to remain the top-picked asset among Indian crypto investors, XRP’s strong position highlights that the country is now looking beyond BTC for trading.
The global crypto market is showing signs of recovery after a long winter. Bitcoin has surged past $80,000 for the first time since May 2026. The surge marks an impressive 23% rally in a week.
Interestingly, this positive trend has also been reflected in the Indian crypto market, with BTC trading at ₹7,564,007. XRP has also seen a notable recovery, rising to around ₹165.

It is worth noting that the crypto market rally is mainly driven by the US Treasury announcement on August 19 about the government’s long-term bond buyback program. The move raised concerns about dollar debasement, triggering a significant surge in crypto demand.
Significantly, the current surge in the XRP price is primarily linked to the broader crypto market rally. At the same time, the altcoin has also benefited from stronger ETF demand. This is significantly evident in the $39.8 million net flows seen among US spot XRP ETFs. While this marked their strongest performance since May, it has helped push the XRP price higher.
A major thing to note about today’s crypto market in India is that XRP outperformed Bitcoin. As of press time, BTC is trading in India at ₹7,565,291, while XRP is valued at ₹141.26. XRP rose by nearly 50% in seven days and 34% in the last 30 days. Meanwhile, BTC is far behind, recording only 23% and 22%, respectively.
This highlights a major shift in focus among Indian traders. Investors are now trading more tokens like XRP amid growing institutional interest, expanding beyond Bitcoin. With increasing XRP ETF inflows and rising risk appetite, XRP is overpowering Bitcoin with a stronger rally.
Globally, investors track the movement of Bitcoin and XRP in US dollars. But in India, people usually see them in INR rates. Thus, the fluctuations in the rupee against the USD could affect the Indian crypto investors’ returns. Today, the rupee is valued at around ₹95.41 per dollar.
This means that if the BTC or XRP price rises in USD, it can lead to an even higher surge in BTC/INR or XRP/INR when the rupee is weak. Thus, the XRP/INR surge to above $165 is mainly because of the weakening rupee. However, this is not the only factor. Even in USD terms, XRP has seen a strong performance, overpowering BTC.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});First of all, Indian crypto traders are required to see whether Bitcoin can hold the current gains for a longer time. If BTC continues to show strength, it could take the whole market upward, influencing altcoins like the Ripple token.
Another important matter to note is institutional interest in Bitcoin and XRP. If the ETF inflow continues to grow, it could help the crypto market to sustain bullish momentum. In addition, Indians should also watch the INR/USD movements as they could also influence their crypto returns.
