Granite Construction Secures $12.3 Million University of Washington Contract

05:10 PM EDT, 08/26/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Granite Construction (GVA) said Wednesday it has secured a $12.3 million progressive design-build contract from the University of Washington to upgrade the Burke-Gilman Trail, which was recorded in the contractor's Q2 backlog. The renovation will widen a one-mile segment of the pathway across the university campus while installing new paving, upgraded lighting, and drainage infrastructure to improve accessibility, the company said. The project entered the design phase in June 2026, with physical construction slated to begin in the spring of 2027 and conclude by Q1 2029, Granite said.
