Altseason Isn’t Dead—It May Be Starting Again: 5 Altcoins to Buy as TOTAL3 Returns to a Historic Floor

  • TOTAL3 has returned toward a long-term relative floor associated with previous altcoin market expansions.
  • A historical support level does not confirm altseason, with liquidity and market participation remaining important factors.
  • RAY, ENA, CRV, VET, and OP represent different sectors, including DeFi, stablecoins, enterprise blockchain, and Layer-2 infrastructure.

The altcoin market is approaching a level that has previously marked the beginning of major market expansions. The TOTAL3 index, which tracks the cryptocurrency market excluding Bitcoin and Ethereum, has returned toward a long-term relative support zone.

Historical comparisons have drawn attention to this area. The altcoin market reached a similar floor before the major altcoin expansions of 2017 and 2021. Both periods eventually produced strong rallies before broader market momentum weakened near a descending resistance structure. The current setup does not guarantee another altseason, but it has renewed discussion about whether the market could be approaching another transition.

The recent structure is significant because altcoins have experienced years of relative underperformance. Rather than approaching the upper portion of a long-running cycle, the market is now positioned closer to its historical starting area.

Raydium Could Benefit From Solana Activity

Raydium (RAY) remains closely linked to activity across the Solana ecosystem. Its role as a decentralized exchange gives the token exposure to trading activity and liquidity demand on the network.

If Solana-based trading activity expands, Raydium could receive increased attention. Still, its performance would remain dependent on network usage, liquidity conditions, and broader decentralized finance activity.

Ethena Faces a Different Market Test

Ethena (ENA) has developed around synthetic dollar infrastructure and decentralized finance. Its future performance could therefore be influenced by stablecoin demand, protocol activity, and changing regulatory conditions.

The token remains exposed to risks associated with market volatility and protocol growth. Any sustained recovery would likely require continued adoption rather than speculation alone.

Curve DAO Remains Tied to DeFi Liquidity

Curve DAO (CRV) occupies an established position within decentralized finance, particularly through liquidity infrastructure. Its market outlook can be affected by stablecoin volumes, liquidity demand, and changes across DeFi protocols.

A broader recovery in decentralized finance could improve sentiment around CRV. However, competition and changing yields remain important factors.

VeChain and Optimism Offer Different Exposure

VeChain (VET) remains focused on blockchain applications involving enterprise use and supply-chain activity. Its potential recovery would depend partly on network adoption and wider demand for blockchain-based business solutions.

Optimism (OP), meanwhile, is connected to Ethereum scaling through its Layer-2 infrastructure. Growth in Layer-2 usage could influence network activity, although competition across scaling networks remains significant.

What the Historical Pattern Could Mean

The current TOTAL3 structure provides a reason to monitor altcoins closely, but history alone cannot predict the next market move. The 2017 and 2021 cycles developed under different liquidity, regulatory, and adoption conditions.

For investors, the key signal may therefore be confirmation rather than anticipation. A sustained breakout, stronger liquidity, and broader participation could provide clearer evidence that another altcoin expansion is developing.

For now, the market appears to be testing a historically important zone. Whether that becomes another starting point will depend on conditions that are still developing.

Quarterly refinancing statement due on Wednesday, U.S. Treasury market holds its breath for major signals

The U.S. Treasury will release its quarterly refinancing statement this Wednesday, and the market anticipates that this may be the largest adjustment to U.S. Treasury issuance guidance since the beginning of 2024. Citi even predicts that the Treasury might cut 20-year and 30-year bond issuances ahead of schedule, shifting to increase the supply of short- and medium-term bonds. However, with the proportion of Treasury bills already rising to 22%, the pressure from short-term financing and the demand for long-term borrowing are creating a dilemma for the adjustment of the issuance structure.
