Winamp Updates Legal Proceedings Against Nvidia, Suno

04:15 AM EDT, 09/02/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Winamp Group said Wednesday that its subsidiary Jamendo has advanced its US copyright proceedings against Nvidia (NVDA) and AI music company Suno over the alleged unauthorized use of musical content and related data in developing artificial intelligence technologies. Jamendo has amended its complaint against Nvidia to include additional information supporting its claims and has formally served the updated complaint on the company, Winamp said. The first hearing is scheduled for Jan. 12, 2027. According to Winamp, Jamendo also said it is seeking a "commercial resolution, including appropriate compensation for past uses where applicable, as well as licensing arrangements or partnerships for future uses," of its case against Nvidia and Suno, and possibly against six other, unnamed AI-related shops that have also allegedly infringed on its copyrights. The Belgium-based Winamp initiated legal proceedings in US federal court in June against Nvidia and Suno, alleging the unauthorized use of musical content and associated data in the development of AI technologies. Winamp said it has also completed additional work on its claims against Suno. Winamp said its complaint against Nvidia and Suno is part of a broader strategy to protect and create value from its catalog and data, as music content becomes an increasingly important resource for the development of artificial intelligence. Representatives from Nvidia and Suno did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
