Top 3 Trending Crypto Coins in India Today: Why LGNS Is Ahead of Bitcoin

As of September 4, 2026, CoinGecko tracking shows Origin LGNS (LGNS) has taken the top trending spot among Indian crypto users, ahead of Bitcoin (BTC) despite its 4.2% price gain. Akedo (AKE) ranks third after rising 12.2%, putting smaller tokens in the spotlight alongside Bitcoin and raising questions about Indian traders’ appetite for higher risk crypto assets.

According to CoinGecko’s latest India trending list update on September 4, 2026, Origin LGNS has overtaken Bitcoin as the most popular cryptocurrency, ranking in the No. 1 position. CoinGecko’s India trending list covers cryptocurrencies viewed recently by users from India and is ranked by popularity. Bitcoin ranks No. 2, while Akedo is No. 3 on the list.

The ranking reflects pageview popularity rather than trading activity. LGNS ranking ahead of Bitcoin does not mean it has higher trading volume, market capitalization or liquidity. Bitcoin has a total of approximately $40.61 billion in 24 hour trading volume, with its market capitalization standing at approximately $1.62 trillion, while the 24 hour trading volume of LGNS stands at approximately $9.72 million.

The result therefore indicates that LGNS is currently attracting more pageview interest from users in India than Bitcoin on CoinGecko. Bitcoin, however, remains significantly larger by conventional market measures, including trading volume and market capitalization.

With recent price action and trading volume on decentralized exchanges, LGNS has garnered more attention. According to CoinGecko data, LGNS is trading at around $1.10, up roughly 1.3% to 1.5% over 24 hours, with a 24 hour range of about $1.08 to $1.11. The token reached an all time high of $84.63 on April 12, 2024, and an all time low of $1.07 on August 31, 2026. The LGNS/DAI pair on QuickSwap has approximately $9.38 million 24 hour volume, while total reported volume across tracked markets is about $9.48 million.

Meanwhile, there has not been a major external announcement, exchange listing or mainstream news event specific to LGNS in recent days that clearly explains the increased interest. Ecosystem updates, referral based participation and staking continue to be the focus of community activity. The available information thus suggests that recent price action, active trading on DEXes, continued staking activity and community promotion have all influenced the current interest in LGNS, and not a single confirmed news catalyst.

Despite ranking below LGNS, Bitcoin is up 3.7%, trading at around $80,615, with 24 hour trading volume of about $40.59 billion and a market capitalization of approximately $1.62 trillion. Bitcoin’s performance marks the disconnect between price increases and the amount of attention it’s getting online.

Although Bitcoin is still the biggest market by size and trading volume, LGNS is making more impact and is getting more pageview interest from users in India. The divergence indicates that robust Bitcoin rallies do not always result in the greatest short term retail interest.

In addition, the same trend of smaller tokens is apparent in Akedo, currently ranked No. 3 on CoinGecko’s India’s trending list. AKE is up 65.0% to 74.8% over seven days and recently reached an all time high of $0.03638 on September 2. Its sharp gains help explain why smaller tokens are attracting attention alongside Bitcoin’s positive performance.

The current mix signals that Indian retail interest is not just confined to mainstream cryptocurrencies, as smaller tokens are also appearing among the most viewed assets. However, CoinGecko’s pageview data does not measure trading volume, capital flows or portfolio allocation, so it does not by itself confirm a shift toward higher risk crypto. Traders should monitor the volume, the liquidity and focused attention to determine if the current interest expands into wider market interest.

Will the Fed "continue raising interest rates"? Will the "tightening cycle" of the late 1980s be repeated?

The Citi report points out that the current macro environment is highly similar to the tightening cycle of 1988-1989, when the economy remained resilient and inflation pressures gradually accumulated, followed by a slowdown in economic activity before policies shifted to easing. During that tightening cycle, the Federal Reserve raised interest rates 16 times in a row.

Rare alliance of arch-rivals! Musk and Altman support Dario Amodei's call to "slow down AI globally"

Anthropic's Amodei issued a call to "slow down AI globally," and to everyone's surprise, rivals Musk and Altman both publicly endorsed the initiative. The three industry giants unanimously agreed to grant third-party access to "employee-level" evaluation rights and to implement coordinated deceleration measures. Altman went further, announcing that OpenAI will not IPO this year. The resignation of a researcher and a collective breakout of uncontrollable AI systems have ignited long-standing industry fears.
