Continuing its rapid growth trend, China's foreign trade increased by 17.6% in the first eight months.
According to data released by the General Administration of Customs on September 8, in the first eight months of this year, China’s total value of goods trade imports and exports reached 34.78 trillion yuan, with the year-on-year growth rate continuing to rise to 17.6%, an acceleration of 0.3 percentage points compared to the first seven months. Of this, exports amounted to 20.17 trillion yuan, up 14.6% year-on-year; imports totaled 14.61 trillion yuan, up 22% year-on-year. In August alone, China’s imports and exports reached 4.65 trillion yuan, increasing 19.8% year-on-year. Among them, exports and imports grew by 18.6% and 21.7%, respectively, both maintaining double-digit growth for four consecutive months, while the monthly year-on-year growth rate of imports has outpaced exports for six consecutive months.
