10:13 AM EDT, 09/14/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Akebia Therapeutics (AKBA) said Monday it has dosed the first patient in an open-label Phase 2 basket trial testing ebribafusp as a treatment for rare complement-mediated kidney diseases. The mid-stage study will enroll up to 30 patients for 26 weeks of weekly subcutaneous dosing to primarily evaluate adverse events, alongside secondary renal function metrics, the company said. The biopharmaceutical firm expects to report initial data in 2027 for the investigational fusion protein, which inhibits complement activation in tissues without inhibiting the complement system in the blood, Akebia added.
