Italy's trade surplus widened to 8.24 billion euros in July, the largest since July 2020

⑴ Italy's trade surplus in July expanded from €7.83 billion in July 2025 to €8.24 billion, marking the largest surplus since July 2020 and far exceeding the market expectation of €4.77 billion. ⑵ Exports grew by 4.7% year-on-year to a record €64.55 billion, mainly driven by a 13.8% increase in basic metals and metal products (excluding machinery and equipment), a 27.3% rise in coke and refined petroleum products, and a 15.9% increase in sports equipment, games, musical instruments, precious metals, medical devices, and other unclassified products. ⑶ Imports grew by 4.6% to €56.31 billion.
