Dollar Could Extend Gains on Potentially Higher U.S. Rates, Oil Prices -- Market Talk
Dow Jones2026/09/15 10:091009 GMT - The dollar could extend its gains after realigning with supportive short-term drivers, ING's Francesco Pesole says in a note. The dollar is lifted by the prospect of the Federal Reserve raising interest rates along with higher energy prices and soft risk sentiment given its position as an energy exporting currency and safe haven asset. The dollar is also supported by a pullback in the yen, he says. The dollar could trade in tighter ranges until the Fed's rate decision on Wednesday but risks remain on the upside for the currency, he says. The DXY dollar index rises 0.2% to 99.608 after reaching a one-month high of 99.736 Monday. "DXY at 100.0 remains a credible near-term target," Pesole says. (renae.dyer@wsj.com)
