LG Display Likely to Face Earnings Pressure From Stronger Won, Higher Input Costs -- Market Talk
Dow Jones2026/09/17 07:450745 GMT - LG Display is likely to face earnings pressure from a stronger won and higher input costs, Daishin Securities' Kangho Park says. The analyst lowers his operating-profit forecasts for the South Korean flat-panel display maker by about 25% for 2026 and 11% for 2027. The dollar has weakened nearly 13% against the won since late June, weighing on the company's profitability, Park notes. Higher prices for semiconductors and other raw materials have pushed up the prices of information-technology devices, dampening demand, he says. Still, he expects the company's earnings to gradually improve on likely higher shipments of organic light-emitting diode panels. Daishin cuts its target price for the stock to 12,000 won from 17,000 won and keeps a buy rating. Shares fall 0.8% to close at 8,400 won. (kwanwoo.jun@wsj.com)
