Tesla, Sunrun Deliver 580 MW to California Grid During Heat Wave

08:44 AM EDT, 09/21/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) and Sunrun (RUN) said Monday their home-battery fleets dispatched more than 580 megawatts of power to California's grid during a three-hour period on Sept. 9, amid a heat wave. More than 140,000 home batteries, including 110,000 Tesla Powerwalls and over 30,000 batteries from other manufacturers, dispatched power during the extreme heat, the companies said in a statement. Tesla Powerwalls supplied 517 megawatts of the output, while other batteries supplied 63 megawatts. A second three-hour dispatch on the next day delivered over 140 megawatts from the combined fleets, the companies said. Tesla shares were 1.4% higher in Monday premarket activity, and Sunrun shares rose 3.8%.
