04:56 PM EDT, 09/25/2026 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with market moves at the end of the day, and other changes, if any.) The Dow Jones Industrial Average rebounded Friday after a three-day slump, as a pullback in oil prices lifted investor sentiment and helped Wall Street lock in weekly gains. The Dow gained 0.9% to close at 51,828.62. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.5% each to 7,743.41 and 27,068.72, respectively. Most sectors advanced, led by technology, while energy saw the steepest decline. This week, the Nasdaq gained 2.1%, having hit record highs earlier in the week and marking its second consecutive weekly advance. The S&P 500 climbed 1.2%. The Dow logged a weekly gain 0.3% following three straight weekly losses. West Texas Intermediate crude oil was down 2.4% at $92.31 a barrel in Friday late-afternoon trade, while Brent was off 2.1% to $104.35. US benchmark WTI was on track for its second consecutive weekly decline, while Brent was headed for a small weekly advance. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran is willing to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a key crude and energy chokepoint, in seven days and restart further talks, if the US accepts its conditions, CNBC reported Friday, citing Araghchi's remarks on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. On Thursday, Reuters reported that US and Iranian negotiators were discussing a phased path out of their conflict, with Tehran reopening the strait and Washington lifting its economic blockade of Iran. "The latest diplomatic efforts offer some hope," Ole Hansen, Saxo Bank head of commodity strategy, said in a report Friday. "The central obstacle remains sequencing, with neither side willing to surrender its main bargaining chip first." Treasury yields were mixed, with the two-year yield down 3.5 basis point at 4.86%, while the 10-year yield moved 0.5 basis point higher to 5.17%. President Donald Trump described his meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping at the White House as "very productive" for both nations. Washington and Beijing have agreed to extend their trade truce by two months to January. "Trump and Xi discussed (artificial intelligence) cooperation and safety, but announced no easing of restrictions on advanced chips or semiconductor equipment," Saxo Chief Investment Strategist Charu Chanana said in a separate report. "That leaves a distinction for investors: diplomatic dialogue may reduce the chance of misunderstandings, while specific export licenses or rule changes would have a more direct effect on chipmakers' sales." Among tech stocks, Microsoft (MSFT) rose 3.7%, the best performer on the Dow. On Semiconductor (ON) advanced 5.5%, the second-biggest gain on the S&P 500, followed by Microchip Technology's (MCHP) 5.4% jump. Dell Technologies (DELL) rose 5%. Akamai Technologies (AKAM) climbed 3.2% as the company signed a cloud infrastructure deal worth up to $20 billion with Anthropic on Thursday. In economic news, US consumer sentiment in September reached its lowest level in four months as inflation expectations rose, with the year-ahead outlook hitting the highest since June, final results of a University of Michigan survey showed Friday. Spot gold edged up 0.3% to $4,288.24 per troy ounce, while silver gained 1.1% to $64.73 per ounce.

The AI wave is driving a global semiconductor "super cycle," with combined third-quarter operating profits of Samsung and SK Hynix potentially approaching the historical record of 190 trillion won. The competition for HBM4 is intensifying, as agent-based AI pushes storage bandwidth demand up tenfold, making memory truly the "lifeblood" of AI data centers.
