According to the Financial Times, NVIDIA (NVDA.US) is in discussions with insurance companies regarding financing solutions, aiming for insurance institutions to assume part of the chip financing risk. At the same time, the company's CEO Jensen Huang is promoting the expansion of semiconductor demand sources to reduce reliance on major technology firms. According to informed sources, NVIDIA has been studying various financing structures with insurers to partially transfer the high capital investment risks of chip financing to insurance institutions and other investors. One proposed solution is to provide insurance for institutions lending to emerging cloud computing companies. If these companies default and the NVIDIA chips used as collateral cannot be resold for sufficient funds to repay the loans, the insurance mechanism could cover part of the losses. Such coverage may attract more capital to emerging firms that lack the balance sheet support of large technology companies. These discussions are still at an early stage and may not result in an agreement; however, this move may indicate NVIDIA’s attempt to leverage tools from Wall Street, private capital, and the insurance industry to broaden its chip client base.
