Sector Update: Tech Stocks Higher Late Afternoon

03:56 PM EDT, 09/30/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks were higher late Wednesday afternoon, with the State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) rising 1% and the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) up 0.1%. The Philadelphia Semiconductor index advanced 0.3%. In corporate news, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) raised its fiscal 2027 revenue growth outlook for its networking segment while securing a $1.2 billion order from Vultr. Its shares jumped over 4%. Salesforce (CRM) signed an agreement to acquire AI-powered client research platform Listen Labs to expand its user understanding capabilities, it said late Tuesday. Salesforce shares rose 1.9%. SpaceX's (SPCX) AI unit SpaceXAI is exploring a subscription pricing overhaul for Grok chatbot and X users, Bloomberg reported. The company is looking to offer a consolidated subscription plan with four tiers, ranging from free access to $100 per month, the report said. SpaceX shares added 1.5%. Synopsys (SNPS) and Amazon (AMZN) have signed a multiyear agreement valued at more than $1 billion to accelerate Amazon's custom silicon and AI-powered cloud infrastructure, the companies said Wednesday. Synopsys shares rose 4.7%.
