Supported by market expectations of Federal Reserve rate hikes and concerns over French debt, the US dollar remains strong, having risen to its highest level since April 2025 against a basket of currencies on Monday. Although market expectations for a rate hike later this month by the Federal Reserve have cooled in recent trading days, LSEG data shows that markets have fully priced in a 25 basis point Fed rate hike by December, and anticipate more than three rate hikes next year. Meanwhile, concerns over France’s fiscal situation have put pressure on the euro and strengthened the dollar’s status as a safe-haven asset. The US Dollar Index (DXY) rose 0.14% on the day, reaching 102.259.

Supported by market expectations for a Federal Reserve rate hike and concerns over French debt, the US dollar remains strong, having reached its highest level against a basket of currencies since April 2025 on Monday. Although market expectations for a Federal Reserve rate hike later this month have eased in recent trading sessions, LSEG data shows that the market has fully priced in a 25-basis-point rate hike by the Federal Reserve in December and expects more than three rate hikes next year. Meanwhile, concerns over France's fiscal situation have put pressure on the euro and strengthened the US dollar as a safe-haven asset. The US Dollar Index (DXY) rose 0.14% during the day to 102.259.

French industrial data cools, fiscal risks disturb the bond market
