European Court of Auditors: EU debt continues to rise and may reach 1 trillion euros by 2027

On October 8 local time, the European Court of Auditors (ECA) released its 2025 annual report, expressing concerns over the continuous growth of EU debt. According to the report, by the end of 2025, the EU's debt had reached approximately 740 billion euros. The report also warns that this figure may further rise to 1 trillion euros by 2027. The ECA pointed out that the increase in EU debt is mainly related to aid for Ukraine, rising interest rates, defense spending, and the EU recovery fund. (CCTV)
