Melrose said that the Garden Grove plant is expected to resume operations in the fourth quarter.
路透社2026/10/13 09:31Reuters, October 13 - The parent company of GKN Aerospace, Melrose Industries MRO.L, said on Tuesday that relevant California authorities have begun handling claims related to the incident at its Garden Grove plant, while the company continues preparations for the full resumption of operations in the fourth quarter.
In late May, concerns over an explosion triggered by the overheating of a chemical storage tank at GKN Aerospace’s factory in suburban Los Angeles led to the evacuation of about 50,000 nearby residents, and the company subsequently suspended (link) production.
The Orange County District Attorney's Office has submitted court documents, including a proposed final judgment and an operational safety plan, to conclude its civil investigation.
In August, Melrose (link) agreed to pay up to 100 million dollars to settle damage claims, and also to pay 25 million dollars for civil enforcement fines and claims from emergency services departments and local authorities.
The company stated that mediation discussions regarding the pending civil class action lawsuit are ongoing, and the group’s insurance coverage is still under review.
As of 08:52 GMT, the company's share price was up 4.4%, at 469.4 pence.
