Domino's Pizza Sales Squeezed by Gas Costs -- WSJ
Dow Jones2026/10/13 16:17By Heather Haddon
High fuel prices are taking a bite out of Domino's U.S. sales, and depressing restaurant development at the world's biggest pizza chain.
Domino's reported a 0.3% increase in U.S. same-store sales for its third quarter, a result of consumers buying fewer items, CEO Joe Jordan said. "Man, when the gas prices hit a bit over $4, you start to really see some pressure," Jordan said in an interview.
Domino's is seeing an increase in customer traffic, but is having to offer deals to do so, executives said. Company franchisees paused plans to build some new locations, and Domino's trimmed its expectations for U.S. growth this year, Jordan said. High diesel prices are also increasing costs for the company.
The company hopes to better target deals to customers to get them to order more sides, Jordan said.
