Recent discussions among cryptocurrency enthusiasts have turned to the distribution of XRP holdings, following remarks by EasyA co-founder Dom Kwok on blockchain’s potential to transform global finance. Social media commentator RIZ drew attention to the current state of XRP ownership, highlighting a sustained contraction in the so-called “rich list,” which tracks the token holdings required to rank among different account tiers.
XRP rich list shrinks as concentration increases, data shows
Sharp disparities in XRP distribution
Data shared by RIZ outlines a significant concentration of XRP among a relatively small number of wallets. The figures show that only 823 accounts, representing 0.01% of all XRP wallets included in the analysis, each hold at least 3,739,984.43 XRP.
The distribution becomes less concentrated further down the ranking. At the 0.1% mark, 8,228 wallets hold a minimum of 274,325 XRP each, while 16,456 accounts at the 0.2% level possess at least 155,888.89 XRP.
Continuing down the list, 41,139 wallets in the top 0.5% have upwards of 79,426 XRP. The thresholds decrease for broader percentile bands, with 82,277 wallets in the top 1% each holding at least 43,747 XRP, and 164,554 wallets in the top 2% maintaining holdings of at least 21,425 XRP. To join the top 5% requires just over 7,294 XRP, and crossing into the top 10% is possible with 2,081 XRP.
Just 823 accounts, representing 0.01% of XRP holders, own more than 3.7 million XRP each, while to be in the top 10% requires holdings of only about 2,000 XRP, illustrating a highly concentrated distribution.
Debate over interpretation of trends
RIZ referenced Dom Kwok’s assertion that blockchain technology is on track to “eat all of finance,” suggesting that the shrinking XRP rich list may indicate broader participation across the network. However, the table published by RIZ serves as a current snapshot and does not provide data on how thresholds have shifted over time.
Without a historical comparison, it remains unclear whether wealth concentration among XRP holders is intensifying or dispersing. The claim that the rich list is shrinking reflects RIZ’s view, but conclusive evidence requires consistent tracking over multiple periods.
Community raises price and yield concerns
The focus on distribution data sparked broader discussion across the XRP community. A user identified as PvtPoopy questioned why XRP’s price remained close to $1.37 despite what they saw as frequent approvals and ecosystem developments. They also criticized content creators for encouraging participation through paid groups, suggesting these communities have not delivered the anticipated returns for many holders.
While RIZ highlighted ongoing shifts in ownership concentration, other participants underscored the gap between theoretical gains and actual outcomes for small investors.
Meme token dynamics and investor behavior
The conversation around XRP holdings parallels patterns seen in other sectors of the digital asset market, particularly meme tokens, where sudden surges in interest can lead to rapid value creation. In such markets, close monitoring of both price movement and investor activity becomes essential. Fomo App consolidates token discovery and trading, offering features such as social feeds, investor leaderboards, and trade s, which aim to equip users with timely information as trends unfold.
In the meme token market, keeping track of timing and investor choices can be just as important as following price action, with examples like “Niu Lai” demonstrating how viral momentum can convert small stakes into substantial gains.
As digital assets continue to evolve, data-driven analysis of ownership structures and trading patterns remains central for participants navigating the fast-paced market landscape.
