XRP Army Reacts As Ripple CEO Announces the Passing of His Dad
Brad Garlinghouse took to X to share the news of his father’s passing. He described B. Kent Garlinghouse, Sr., who lived from 1941 to 2026, as “the wisest, most thoughtful, and most generous person I have known.”
He called his father a friend, a mentor, a role model, and an inspiration. Above all, he said, he was fortunate to call him Dad. The post included a photo of the two together.
The words were few, but the sentiment behind them was unmistakable. Garlinghouse kept his message personal, offering a rare unguarded look at the person behind one of crypto’s most recognized companies.
The Community Responds
The response from the XRP community and the broader crypto space was immediate.
More Support From the Community
Crypto Eri, Bird, and many other prominent figures in the community offered personal words of support, drawing on their own personal experiences and encouraging him.
A Community Built Over Years
The outpouring shows a relationship between Garlinghouse and the XRP army that has developed over the years. He joined Ripple as COO in 2015 and became CEO in December 2016. He has led the community for almost a decade, and they have followed him through landmark legal battles, major corporate wins, and personal milestones.
Last September, many of the same voices now offering condolences celebrated with him when he announced his marriage to Tara Milsti following a ceremony on the French Riviera. The community that tracks his professional moves also follows him as a person. In good times and hard ones, they show up.
