Meta fell 7% as AI spending outran its cash flow, and MetLifes Drew Matus says investors punish spending cuts too. Meta beat revenue estimates, with sales up 26%. Yet third-quarter capital expenditure (capex) of $34.9 billion topped operating cash flow, and shares fell on Oct. 22. What Do Investors Actually Want From AI Spending? Four more tech giants face the same test after Metas selloff. Microsoft and Alphabet report Wednesday, followed by Amazon and Intel on Thursday. Bloombergs hosts said the four make up about 15% of the Nasdaq 100, which has fallen roughly 7% this month. Matus said firms that cut capex get punished. Firms that raise it get the same treatment. I dont actually really know what people want from these people. Meta also announced a new class of nonvoting Class C stock. Scotiabank noted that management indicated an equity raise may be necessary. Alphabet fell about 4% after hours in July when it lifted capex guidance. BeInCryptos filing review found AI capex draining cash at Microsoft and Amazon. Can Big Tech Spend as Much as It Promises? We recommend assessing market direction separately from income sources. Higher oil can weigh on growth valuations, lift inflation expectations, and spark expectations of Fed rate hikes, putting pressure on equities and crypto. 2. rToken net cash dividends can be distributed separately, but buying spot, shorting a perpetual, and holding across the record date does not automatically create an arbitrage. First confirm ex-dividend eligibility, platform snapshots, after-tax amounts, and the corporate-action rules for the short leg. Then compare funding fees, spreads, and execution costs. A dividend arbitrage strategy can be applied to STRC. 3. Next week's Fed decision and major technology earnings are key. Lower policy uncertainty can help restore risk appetite, but a sustained rebound still needs confirmation from rates, cloud growth, capital expenditure, and free cash flow. Our base case is a monthly-timeframe rebound in risk assets and crypto as earnings season, the Fed meeting, and the midterm elections pass and uncertainty recedes.
