USD.AI, a decentralized lending protocol that finances AI infrastructure, including GPUs, by providing dollar-denominated liquidity, is in the news.

And, this time, it was because of its native governance token, $CHIP, that surged 19% following USDAI’s disclosure of a $1 million token buyback.

At the same time, volume spiked up by 331%, and it was equivalent to more than 70% of the token’s market cap. In fact, at press time, $CHIP was trading at $0.05058 after a hike of 8.9% in the past 24 hours.

All about USDAI’s $1 million token buyback

So, for those unaware, a token buyback occurs when a company uses funds to purchase its own cryptocurrency from the open market. In this case, USDAI used Circle’s USDC to buy $CHIP tokens across multiple cryptocurrency exchanges.

Now, by purchasing tokens from the market, USDAI created additional demand for $CHIP, which in turn supported its price, given the available supply for sale was limited.

Elon Musk’s AI warning

He described this situation as,

Guppy-level death and consolidation.

He added,

Debt markets have almost entirely shut off access to money for any company that doesn’t have substantial revenue independent of AI data centers.

As expected, his warning, prompted a key question facing the AI industry: Can companies sustain their growth and investments without reliable access to capital?

Well, the answer is straightforward because if financing becomes harder to obtain or customer revenue fails to cover their expenses, even companies operating in a rapidly growing sector could face financial pressure.

Neoclouds take a hit

This coincided with CoreWeave reporting $35.6 billion in outstanding debt against $5.5 billion in cash and cash equivalents at the end of June 2026. It subsequently took on another $4.2 billion in debt in September.

Meanwhile, Gartner predicted that 80% of neocloud providers could shut down operations by 2030 due to financial pressure and fractured business models.

This came on the heels of AMBCrypto’s previous report that despite rising interest in AI-driven trading, most traders remain cautious about giving AI full control over their funds.

At the same time, Maelstrom Fund CIO Arthur Hayes believes an AI bubble burst could trigger government bailouts, increased money printing, and inflation, potentially driving investors toward alternative stores of value such as Bitcoin.

Final Summary

  • USDAI purchased 22,343,372 $CHIP tokens at an average price of $0.044756 per token.
  • But Elon Musk warned that more than 200 neoclouds could face failures as access to financing would become increasingly difficult.

Morgan Stanley’s quant team has warned that the sell-off in semiconductor and data center stocks is not over yet, as the current trend of the chip index resembles that of the internet bubble in 2000, indicating continued medium-term downside risk. They recommend taking advantage of rebounds to reduce positions, increase allocation to low-volatility and value stocks, and position in AI application companies. The report points out that the AI theme is shifting from upstream infrastructure to downstream applications, with AI adoption companies demonstrating relative resilience.

JPMorgan: If AI-driven profits persist, US stocks can withstand a 10-year Treasury yield rising to 5.5%-6.0%

JPMorgan pointed out that based on approximately 80 years of historical data, if the current forecast for forward EPS growth exceeding 20% is achieved, the S&P 500 has the capacity to absorb a rise in the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield to the 5.5%-6.0% range—especially under the premise that AI-driven productivity growth supports a high valuation environment.
