Market Chatter: ON Semiconductor Nears Deal to Buy Ferric for About $1 Billion

MT newswireMT newswire2026/10/28 08:05
04:05 AM EDT, 10/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- ON Semiconductor (ON) is in talks to acquire chip startup Ferric for nearly $1 billion, The Information reported Tuesday, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter. A deal could be reached in the coming days, though discussions remain ongoing and terms could change or fall apart, according to the report. The potential deal reflects growing demand for AI chip power-management technology as ON Semiconductor expands its business, including through its $5.7 billion cash acquisition of Synaptics, the report said. ON Semiconductor and Ferric did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
