Caterpillar Stock Slides After Missing Revenue Forecasts -- WSJ
Dow Jones2026/10/29 11:38By Alexander Osipovich
Shares of Caterpillar dived 9% premarket after the industrial-equipment maker reported solid growth, particularly in its business unit that serves electricity-hungry AI data centers, but still fell short of Wall Street's sky-high expectations.
Total revenue jumped 17% in the third quarter to $20.68 billion, just shy of analysts' consensus estimate of $20.76 billion.
Sales at Caterpillar's power-and-energy division rose 18% to $8.78 billion, compared to the same quarter last year. The fast-growing division has benefited from sales of large power-generation sets and turbines to provide energy to data-center projects.
