Amazon (AMZN.US) spent over $77 billion on real estate and equipment in the third quarter, far exceeding analysts’ expectations. The company is continuing to advance data center construction to meet the growing demand for artificial intelligence services. This expenditure led to a free cash outflow of $42.4 billion. Amazon also announced revenue rose 12% year-on-year to $201.9 billion. Although its cloud computing division, Amazon Web Services (AWS), saw its sales growth accelerate for the sixth consecutive quarter, signs of sluggish growth in its core online business have also begun to emerge. Amazon has also expanded the scale of its data centers to enhance its capacity to provide computing power to enterprise clients. In July, Amazon stated that, due to supply constraints of storage chips limiting supply, its 2026 capital expenditures could reach $220 billion, higher than previously forecast.
