Legendary fund manager Druckenmiller invests in crypto derivatives platform TradeXYZ; related listed company’s share price soars 23% in a single day
Druckenmiller made a rare statement on X, announcing an investment in the crypto derivatives platform TradeXYZ and revealed he would use it to "enhance his investment decision-making process." On the same day, TradeXYZ announced a partnership with ICE, jointly seeking regulatory approval to officially introduce perpetual futures products into the compliant US market. Driven by these dual factors, the associated PURR options trading volume surged sixfold, with bullish bets outnumbering bearish ones by four to one.
Legendary hedge fund manager Stanley Druckenmiller announced his investment in crypto derivatives developer TradeXYZ, on the same day as the blockbuster partnership announcement with ICE (Intercontinental Exchange), sparking a strong reaction in the market. Hyperliquid Strategies (PURR), the publicly traded company most closely linked to the Hyperliquid ecosystem, saw its stock price soar more than 23% in a single day to a three-week high, with options trading volume surging more than sixfold compared to its 30-day average.

Druckenmiller posted on social platform X, saying he is "excited to become an investor in trade(xyz)" and "looks forward to utilizing their innovative products to enhance his investment decision-making process." According to CNBC on October 29, his representative later confirmed the statement to the Financial Times. Meanwhile, TradeXYZ announced a partnership with ICE, with both parties seeking regulatory approval, planning to introduce the popular perpetual futures products from Hyperliquid Exchange to the US market.

After the announcement, the options market responded quickly. PURR's single-day options volume exceeded 111,000 contracts, with clearly dominant bullish sentiment. Bullish options accounted for around 86,000 contracts, while bearish options were less than 27,000 contracts, with the number of buyer-led bullish options about four times that of bearish options.
Druckenmiller Appears, Instantly Igniting Market Sentiment
According to CNBC, Druckenmiller's post "almost came out of nowhere"—his X account is usually inactive; this sudden statement caused a huge stir on social media.
Druckenmiller is world-renowned for shorting the pound in the 1990s and humiliating the Bank of England, with a long-term annualized return rate far beyond his Wall Street peers. This legendary investor’s endorsement gives TradeXYZ and the entire Hyperliquid ecosystem extremely high market credibility.
TradeXYZ is the main developer of the perpetual futures (“perps”) market on the Hyperliquid Exchange. Perpetual futures are a type of derivative contract with no expiration date, hugely popular in the crypto market but previously not approved by regulators in the US.
PURR is currently the most closely tradeable listed security associated with the Hyperliquid ecosystem, and investors see it as the most direct beneficiary of this news.
Cboe LiveVol data shows PURR’s options trading volume for the day exceeded 111,000 contracts, more than six times the 30-day average. Of these, around 86,000 were bullish options and less than 27,000 bearish options; among buyer-led trades, the number of bullish options was about four times that of bearish ones. Of the ten largest trades by volume, only one involved buying bearish options.
Looking at the most active trading strategies, the two largest volumes were: Selling the December 18 expiration $13 strike put options, and buying the November 6 expiration $13 strike call options. The combination forms a classic “risk reversal” strategy—a short-term bet on continued price increases, while expressing long-term confidence that the share price will not fall below $13 before the year-end.
Hyperliquid Strategies (PURR) is a publicly-traded company focused on investing in the HYPE crypto token, which is the native token powering Hyperliquid Exchange. As the core developer of the exchange’s perpetual futures market, TradeXYZ’s partnership with ICE and Druckenmiller’s investment directly raise market expectations for the Hyperliquid ecosystem’s business prospects.
Hyperliquid Strategies CEO David Schamis described ICE’s involvement as a landmark moment for the integration of traditional and decentralized finance, believing this move would accelerate the mainstream adoption of perpetual futures as an asset class within a regulated framework.
ICE Partnership Paves the Way, Perpetual Futures Seek Compliance in the US
The collaboration between TradeXYZ and ICE is one of the core drivers behind this announcement. Both parties declared they are jointly seeking regulatory approval, with the goal of officially bringing Hyperliquid’s perpetual futures products to the US market for compliant operations.
David Schamis, CEO of Hyperliquid Strategies, said in a statement:
“We are extremely excited to see ICE partner with Trade.XYZ to bring Hyperliquid’s markets and liquidity to US investors. ICE is a cornerstone of traditional finance and an ideal partner.”
Schamis added that this partnership highlights the strong market demand for perpetual futures trading, and it marks an important step towards compliant trading for this asset class.
It is worth noting that according to CNBC, in August of this year, President Trump stated that regulators were pushing to introduce the Hyperliquid Exchange in the United States, and this partnership announcement echoes that policy signal.

$33.5 billion! This Amazon number has "shocked" the market
Amazon's free cash flow in Q3 plummeted to -$33.5 billion, four times higher than the market expectation of -$7.7 billion. The sharp decline was caused by the dual impact of $77.3 billion in capital expenditures and $48.1 billion in new debt in a single quarter. Although AWS's growth rate reached a five-year high of 39.3%, it still fell short of buy-side expectations, and its profit margin declined. The Q4 operating profit guidance of $31 billion was entirely below Wall Street and buy-side forecasts. The core issue is that for every $1 earned by AWS, nearly $4 in new spending is tied to it.

Hedge funds are amplifying the risks of tech stocks!
Hedge funds are quietly making a risky strategic shift—from shorting individual stocks to shorting indices. This transition is accelerating the rise in stock correlations, and the “anti-leverage” buffer that once dampened volatility is disappearing. According to Goldman Sachs data, funds’ short exposure to indices and ETFs has reached a ten-year high. The VIX faces the risk of disorderly surges, and vulnerability to deep stock price declines is quietly accumulating.
