Sector Update: Consumer

03:22 PM EDT, 10/30/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were mixed late Friday afternoon, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) rising 1.5% and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) shedding 0.7%. In corporate news, Ford (F) CEO Jim Farley told workers Thursday at a town hall meeting the company is targeting a sales increase of about 20% by 2032, which amounts to about 5 million cars a year, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday. Ford shares were down 1%.
