Marvell Technology (MRVL.US) has reached an agreement to acquire data center optical equipment manufacturer Lumentum Holdings at an enterprise value of $115 billion. This is one of the largest deals in the technology sector's history, reflecting the rush among companies to seize opportunities brought by the artificial intelligence boom. According to statements released by both parties, the transaction will be conducted entirely in stock, and after completion, Marvell shareholders will own 67% of the merged company. Previously, Bloomberg reported that the two Silicon Valley companies were nearing this major deal. Data shows that by equity value, this will be the largest merger and acquisition transaction so far this year and the largest in the history of the global technology industry, excluding the merger of SpaceX and xAI.
