Activist Investor Oasis Says It Wants to Keep Vail Resorts Intact -- WSJ
Dow Jones2026/11/02 15:09By Allison Pohle
Oasis Management, the activist investor targeting Vail Resorts, is rebuffing accusations that it would support a plan to sell any of its resorts.
"The problem is not with the assets the company owns, in our view, but how the company has mismanaged those assets," Oasis wrote in a new letter to Vail shareholders.
The distinction matters because Vail has accused Oasis of coordinating with Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince, who had previously expressed interest in acquiring Vail's Park City Mountain Resort. Oasis denied having any coordination with Prince and said its plan for improving Vail doesn't include moving to an "asset-light model."
Oasis owns 9.6% of Vail Resorts stock and has nominated two candidates to its board, including former Disney CEO Bob Chapek. On Friday, Ron Baron, of Vail's largest shareholder, Baron Capital, voiced his opposition to Oasis' board nominees and said he supported Vail CEO Rob Katz's strategy to revive its growth.
