Musk stated that Tesla plans to gradually reduce production of the Cybertruck at its Texas factory starting from mid-2027, in order to free up capacity for expanding Cybercab production. Tesla began producing this uniquely styled electric pickup at its factory near Austin in 2023, but the model has struggled to maintain market demand and has faced several recalls. In a message posted on social media on Friday, Musk did not specify whether Cybertruck production would be moved to other factories or be discontinued entirely. Earlier this year, Tesla started producing the gold-colored, two-seat Cybercab at its Austin factory, specifically designed for Robotaxi services. This model is considered a key part of Tesla’s transformation plan, as the company aims to shift from being an electric vehicle manufacturer to becoming a leader in the field of artificial intelligence products, including humanoid robots. Musk has previously called the Cybertruck Tesla’s best product ever and predicted the company could produce more than 250,000 units annually, depending on market demand. However, sales in the model’s first year were less than one-sixth of that target.
