Strategy says Bitcoin rebound drives record Q3 income, 2-3 year bull market possible
Strategy founder Michael Saylor stated during the company’s third-quarter 2026 earnings call that Bitcoin is rebounding from a year-long bear market and signaled the potential for a bull market lasting two to three years. The comments followed recent positive movement in Bitcoin’s price and a rise in its market dominance.
Bitcoin recovers as market dominance grows
Saylor reported that Bitcoin’s market dominance has reached nearly 67%, highlighting its growing share within the total cryptocurrency sector. He pointed to roughly $6.3 billion of inflows into Bitcoin ETFs in the third quarter as a further indication of renewed institutional interest.
Banks have begun to incorporate Bitcoin into their offerings, according to Saylor, broadening the array of market participants. He described the current environment as one in which institutional demand is returning, coupled with a broadening pool of buyers.
Bitcoin has weathered a bear market lasting about a year, and is now rebounding from its 200-week moving average. Several indicators—including a rise in market dominance, institutional inflows, and banks adopting Bitcoin—suggest that a multi-year bull market could be underway.
Despite these developments, Saylor acknowledged the inherent volatility of Bitcoin and pointed out that regulatory or macroeconomic changes remain significant risks to the trend. The focus of the earnings call included Strategy’s expanding Bitcoin treasury, new digital-credit products, and its financial outlook.
Key factors behind potential bull market
Saylor identified digital credit issuance and bank lending as mechanisms likely to influence Bitcoin demand. He expressed the view that these channels could absorb new supply created through block rewards. Additionally, the development of exchange-traded products, adoption by corporate treasuries, and broader participation from financial institutions are helping to create new channels for capital to enter the Bitcoin market.
He also cited monetary expansion, institutional investment, tokenization, and the upcoming 2028 halving as potential drivers of long-term demand. Tokenization could allow for global round-the-clock trading, accelerating innovation in markets that utilize Bitcoin as digital collateral or capital.
Strategy CEO Phong Le described the company as “amplified Bitcoin,” referencing the firm’s capital-raising credit products used to acquire more Bitcoin. Strategy’s stated objective is to double the Bitcoin held per share within seven years. Reserves for future obligations are planned alongside continued Bitcoin purchases.
Saylor said that as financial innovation continues, Bitcoin’s role could expand beyond payments and become more relevant in equity, collateral, and credit products used globally.
Strategy’s financial performance and leadership changes
As of the third quarter, Strategy disclosed holdings of 848,517 Bitcoin, representing about 4% of Bitcoin’s eventual total supply. The surge in Bitcoin’s price during the quarter contributed to a fair-value gain of approximately $20.9 billion.
Record operating income for the period matched the fair-value gain, while net income reached $19.1 billion and diluted earnings stood at $44.75 per share. During the same quarter, shares of MSTR appreciated 76%, compared to Bitcoin’s own 43% gain. The firm reported about $74 billion in total treasury assets by late October, which included $5.1 billion in dollar-denominated holdings to ensure several years’ coverage for interest and dividends.
Strategy raised $5.4 billion during the third quarter, bringing the year-to-date capital raised to $21.2 billion, while its digital-credit market expanded to roughly $16 billion. The Stretch preferred stock product provided by Strategy offers a dividend of about 12%. Shareholders have also approved daily dividend accrual and payments for several preferred securities to enhance liquidity.
The company announced Chief Financial Officer Andrew Kang will step down for personal reasons, effective November 5. CEO Phong Le is set to serve as principal financial officer during the transition, with a plan to split financial leadership between the software and Bitcoin businesses beginning in 2027.
