(1) According to preliminary shipping data released on Wednesday, only 4 vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday. (2) This is lower than the 7 vessels recorded the previous day, and far below the 10-day average of 18 vessels. (3) Of these vessels, 2 exited the strait and 2 entered the strait. (4) The vessels in transit did not include Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) or Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carriers. (5) Some vessels may have transited the waterway with their transponders turned off and therefore were not included in the statistics.
